The Theory Of Water Purifiers}

Submitted by: Neha M Rastogi

“Water, this most precious commodity, is in peril in virtually all parts of the globe.” – Marq De Villiers

The concept of purification of water has gained a huge importance in India in the last few years. Factors such as Industrialization, over reliance on the use of pesticides, old pipe and damaged pipe lines, dependence on ground water which contains excessive levels of impurities, along with the global water crisis and climate changes has made the purification of water necessary.

Whats In Your Water?

If you are drinking tap water or underground water, the answer to that question is that there are more than 300 pollutants, according to research from the Environmental Working Group. Among these contaminants are:

1) Volatile Chemicals such as pesticides, Insecticide and other chemicals. These chemicals are found in most municipal water sources and even in well and other sources due to modern agricultural activities and contamination. Various studies have proved that these chemicals damage in the reproductive system, liver, kidneys and more.

2) Heavy Metals like lead and mercury are found in some water sources and have been linked to many health problems.

3) Other impurities such as dust, sand, dead insects and other sediments

So what are the options for those of us not interested in drinking a chemical cocktail every time we are thirsty?

1) Boiling water: – This is the most common and widely used form of water purification technology available. It is as ancient as the history of man himself. The advantage of this method is that it eliminates almost all of the germs of water. Another advantage of this method is that it cost effective. Boiling effectively kills all harmful micro-organisms but does not affect impurities like dust, sand, etc. It is also not able to remove dissolved impurities present in the water.

2) Chemical Disinfection (chlorine, bromine, iodine): Direct use of these chemicals or using water purifiers which these chemicals are common. But you will find it hard to believe that municipalities use the same technology for purification. This process can help you get rid of some micro organisms, however it is totally ineffective in removing suspended impurities like

Dust and sand as well cysts which are a major cause of water borne diseases. Another major disadvantage of this technology is that the disinfection process may lead to creation of harmful chemicals known as disinfection bi-products (DBP) that are carcinogenic (cancer causing) in nature.

3) Reverse Osmosis (RO) based water Purifiers: – RO technology is among the best known purification technology to the man. Reverse Osmosis, a water treatment method traditionally known for removing salt from seawater, is also used to purify drinking water by forcing untreated water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane or filter. The membrane blocks contaminants and the impurities are subsequently expelled from the environment. The result is pure, clean drinking water. The Reverse Osmosis membrane has a tight pore structure (less than 0.0001 micron or 500,000 times less than the diameter of a human hair) that effectively removes up to 99% of all contaminants and impurities such as total dissolved solids, chemicals, bacteria and viruses from drinking water. Anti-microbial filters used in Reverse Osmosis also help to remove unwanted odors, colors and tastes from water. Reverse Osmosis filtration technology is so effective that it is used by most leading water bottling plants.

4) Ultra Violet (UV) based water purification is another option for cleaning of your water. It has been used for some time now. This technology can also be referred as electronic boiling. Ultraviolet (UV) rays penetrate harmful pathogens in your water and destroy illness-causing microorganisms by attacking their genetic core (DNA). This is extremely efficient in eliminating their ability to reproduce. Disinfecting your water with Ultraviolet light is exceptionably simple, effective and environmentally safe. UV systems destroy harmful microorganisms without adding chemicals or changing your waters taste or odor. UV water purification is usually used with other forms of filtration such as reverse osmosis systems or carbon block filters.

5) Gravity Based ultra filtration: – This innovative technology by Kent water purifiers has a specially designed UF membrane that works under the force of gravity and at atmospheric pressure. This UF membrane has a pore size of 0.1 microns which is small enough to filter out bacteria as well as harmful micro-organisms like cysts. It is used in combination with fine Nylon filter which removes dust and sand as well as Carbon filter that is coated with nano-silver. This nano-silver coated carbon filter absorbs many organic impurities and dissolved gases in water. The nano silver coating is anti-microbial by nature and ensures that the carbon does not become a breeding ground for micro-organisms.

Kent water purifiers also use a combination of these techniques i.e. RO + UV/UF in addition of the TDS control which leaves no chance for impurities to pass through. No wonder that with such innovative mindsets Kent water Purifiers have worked their way to the top.

SpaceX delays Falcon 1 launch again

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

SpaceX Corporation has postponed the launch of the maiden flight of their Falcon 1 rocket again at their Kwajalein launch facility. Although not as damaging as the previous delay on November 11, this is certainly a significant set back for Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX.

A full engine test was conducted on the rocket, and the launch pad equipment which holds the rocket on the launch pad after engine firing seemed to work as planned. This safety equipment is designed to keep the rocket from causing damage or being destroyed in the event that some equipment malfunction occurs immediately after the rocket engines start. Under similar circumstances with other rockets the entire rocket together with its payload would have been destroyed due to a computer report of malfunction.

The exact reasons for failure were not disclosed by SpaceX, but Elon Musk said on his web site, “I will post a longer update next week, after we have enough time to finish forensics of recent events and formulate next steps.”

Finnish terrestrial analogue TV network shut down

Saturday, September 1, 2007

The terrestrial analogue television broadcasts in Finland ended in September 1, 2007, at 04:00 local time, marking the transition to the digital DVB-T standard. DVB broadcasts were started in 2001, Users of terrestrial TV are no longer able to receive the formerly nationally available TV channels – YLE TV1, YLE TV2, MTV3, and Nelonen – without set-top boxes or TV sets with built-in digital receivers. SVT Europa is also no longer available in analogue networks.

Cable networks are permitted to make the analogue mode available until the end of February 2008.

While over 75% of households already use digital TV, as of mid-August, over 220 000 households that depend on terrestrial broadcasts have not yet purchased a set-top box. There are also areas where digital terrestrial broadcasts are not yet available. This is being remedied through relay transmitters that will be set up over the following months.

Fourth U.S. state governor orders net neutrality in government contracts

Sunday, February 18, 2018

On Thursday, Phil Scott of Vermont became the fourth governor in the United States to sign an executive order requiring all companies providing Internet access to state agencies to abide by net neutrality for all customers in his state. He said he did this because Vermonters rely on Internet access without blocking, throttling and paid prioritization, threatened by the December 14 decision of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the matter of “Restoring Internet freedom”. The first state governor to challenge the FCC in this way was Steve Bulllock of Montana, who did so on January 22. Andrew Cuomo of New York followed two days later. Philip Murphy of New Jersey signed a similar executive order on February 5. These four executive orders differ in details, but all require that state agencies purchase Internet access services only from companies with an enforceable commitment to net neutrality for all customers in their state.

This is part of a flurry of state-level net neutrality actions. The New York State Assembly introduced bill A01958 on January 17, 2017, three days before the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States, anticipating action by him to overturn the 2015 “Title II Order” that made net neutrality enforceable in the US. Two other bills were introduced into the Washington House of Representatives in the ten days before the official decision of Trump’s FCC on this issue. In addition to these, 63 other state-level responses by net neutrality supporters were documented by Fight for the Future (FFTF) by February 16, 2018, including at least 27 bills introduced into the legislatures of 17 states with others reportedly under consideration.

These bills are in addition to the lawsuit filed on January 16 by the Attorney General of New York on behalf of 21 states and the District of Columbia claiming this FCC decision was “arbitrary, capricious, and an abuse of discretion within the meaning of the Administrative Procedure Act” (APA) of 1946 and other grounds. These states were New York, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington state. New Jersey reportedly later committed to join the suit.

These four executive orders are the only actions on FFTF’s list of actions by net neutrality supporters that seem immediately enforceable. All others require approval by democratic bodies. The four executive orders might be challenged in courts as conflicting with “Preemption authority” claimed by the US Federal Communications Commission’s “Declaratory ruling, report and order” adopted December 14 and released January 4. The FCC order was described by dissenting Commissioner Clyburn as “Destroying Internet Freedom” rather than “Restoring Internet Freedom” as the order is titled. She wrote that this order “will put profits and shareholder returns above what is best for” consumers.

British chef Keith Floyd dies at age 65

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

British chef Keith Floyd has died at the age of 65 after a heart attack in Dorset, England.

Keith Floyd was best known for his cookery programmes, particularly on British television channel BBC, although he has also featured on shows on ITV. He was arguably most popular for his Floyd on series, with shows like Floyd on Food, Floyd on Spain, Floyd on Italy etc. He also presented Floyd on GMTV in 1998. Keith had been presenting programmes from 1984 to 2001.

On July 29, it was reported that Floyd had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in June. After undergoing five serious operations, 90% of the cancer was removed. He later had chemotherapy. He died on Monday of a heart attack in his partner’s house in Dorset, England.

Famous chefs around the world have been expressing their sadness for his death and made comments about him to British newspaper, The Guardian. Among them was Rick Stein, who said, “I first met Keith in the early 80s. He used to come to the restaurant regularly and knew Padstow well because his first wife came from Port Isaac. At a time when I was experimenting with Provençal dishes like Bouillabaisse and Bourride he was a Gauloise-smoking, red wine drinking hero who had actually owned a restaurant next to the Mediterranean. One thing was certain — he cooked like a dream and loved food and wine with a passion.”

Other cooks such as Michel Roux, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Heston Blumenthal expressed condolences. Gordon Ramsay stated, “Keith Floyd was a true original. A natural performer and a superb cook, he broke new ground with his programmes and his contribution to television cookery was immense.”

Marco Pierre White stated that, “A little piece of Britain died yesterday which will never be replaced. He was an individual, he was a maverick, he was mercurial, he was magical, he was special, he was rare.”

Keith Floyd died on September 14, the same day a documentary was broadcast on Channel 4 called Keith Meets Keith, which featured comedian Keith Allen interviewing Keith Floyd. It emerged that his death was just a few hours beforehand, however the information was unknown at the time of broadcast.

Celia Martin, who was staying with Floyd at the time of his death, gave an interview with London local newspaper Evening Standard.

“When we got home he had a siesta and got up feeling a bit headachy. We had both eaten a lot so I put it down to that. He laid down on the sofa and I thought he went to sleep. Then suddenly his breathing became erratic,” Martin said. “I phoned for an ambulance and the operator gave me instructions on how to help him. He didn’t say anything at all. The ambulance people were here for about an hour. They thought there was a chance they could save him. It was so bizarre, we were sitting down to watch the documentary at 10pm but by that time he had died.”

How To Purchase Used Forklifts That Stand Upto Your Expectations

How to Purchase Used Forklifts that Stand upto Your Expectations

by

I. Gates

The market for used forklifts is not stagnant at all. It remains on move with the to and fro of buyers and sellers. Forklifts that are rejected after they have been used for a period of time are usually sold for thousands of dollars not much less than the cost of new ones. A used forklift features the highlights and offers the advantages of firsthand counterbalance forklift at lower prices. They can be reliable and functional though they are secondhand. Several ways are there to select and buy a used forklift from real-life stores and online retailers.

Make sure to check out a few used forklifts before staking your money on the purchase of one. Secondhand forklifts may usually require extensive repair that costs dearly. Such a purchase is not profitable from a businessman s eye. Checking the parts of a used forklift is important to make it sure that it is not a lemon. It is foolish to go with the claims of used forklift dealers to offer better than new forklift. Their claims often prove to be fake. So, believe no one except your discerning eyes while purchasing a secondhand counterbalance forklift.

Many secondhand forklifts last longer and deliver the best of them. Many stores sell both new and old forklifts. Reputable dealers of used forklifts sell their products online. Internet is a wide platform to locate such dealers and deal with them. But, internet purchase is riskier since you get no scope to check any used forklift. Surf the internet to collect information on the dealers but make a visit to their real-life stores.

Some companies are there. They deal in only used

counterbalance forklift

. They buy directly from the users, present them with some makeover and resell them to those looking for secondhand forklifts. These machines are taken through the phases of mechanical improvement to revive them to their proper function before they are resold. Many websites advertise the used forklifts of users who intend to sell them. The websites take a share of the price when they are purchased.

EBay is another important platform to select and purchase secondhand forklifts. You can avail a huge discount on the purchase at EBay. As there is no chance to check and test them in person, make it sure to go through the specifications on

used forklifts

and their parts. Secondhand purchases are good for those having a limited budget.

Several groups seek to purchase Saturn auto brand

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Penske Automotive Group, Inc., an Ohio-based investment group and Telesto Ventures have indicated separately that they are interested in purchasing the Saturn auto brand from General Motors (GM).

According to The Wall Street Journal, Nissan-Renault is interested in purchasing Saturn. Bloomberg, however, indicated that Nissan-Renault may be a partner of Penske’s potential bid. If Penske acquired the brand, they would distribute Saturn vehicles and outsource the assembly.

GM revealed that the Saturn brand along with Saab and Hummer were up for sale when unveiling their restructuring plans to Congress for governmental loans. While the Pontiac brand was originally to be a niche brand, GM had changed their plans recently and decided to eliminate the brand.

Telesto Ventures is an investment group that includes private equity firm Black Oak Partners LLC of Oklahoma City and several Saturn dealerships. Initially, Telesto will purchase Saturn branded cars from GM then act as a general retailer for foreign brands. Telesto is in talks with several foreign manufacturers.

The Ohio group includes many former senior auto company managers plus private financial backers, chemists and engineers who live in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. This group plans to initially purchase cars from GM then purchase existing but closed plants due to automaker restructuring. Additionally, one of the partners indicated a willingness to accept some “legacy” cost in relation to the United Auto Workers. The Ohio group is also pursuing possible loans or other support from national and state governments.

GM is reviewing several offers for Saturn. GM has contracted with S.J. Girsky & Co. to advise them on the sale.
